The existing 1850’s Georgian style villa was a Protected Structure which had been mostly stripped of it’s original features including the original sash windows.

The brief called for the existing house to be restored using historically correct timber sash windows and repairs to the remaining period features and the addition of a new modern light filled extension which would allow better connection to the West facing rear garden. In addition the house was upgraded using breathable insulation throughout, fully re-plumbed and re-wired. A new air to water heating system was installed.

The result is a Protected Structure with a A3 BER rating. The house tries to balance the best of both worlds between period property and sleek modern light filled architecture.
